depth WR for deep leagues only
WR103 through Week 4 · 5.0 PPG
Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished WR87 last season at 4.5 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 2 games he's WR103 at 5.0 PPR points per game, against 4.5 over 16 games last season (WR87). The role is producing the same fantasy output two years running.
Last season he ranked 65th of 142 in target volume (10.3% target share), 108th of 142 in downfield role (6.0% air-yards share) and 98th of 142 in efficiency (1.16 yards per route run). Downfield role is the soft spot. Bryce Young is his quarterback.
He's WR2 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.
The next favorable matchups are the Lions in Week 4 (2nd against WRs) and the Packers in Week 8 (10th against WRs).
Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)
Published June 16, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Four years in, Metchie still hasn't cleared the role-player tier, and 2025 confirmed it: 13 games, a 46.1% snap share, 48 targets on a 10.3% target share, and just 274 yards on 33 catches. The efficiency markers are the bigger red flag. His 8.3 yards per reception and 1.16 yards per route run are replacement-level, his minus-0.049 EPA per play dipped back below water after a brief 2024 uptick, and a 43.8% success rate offers nothing to dream on. Two touchdowns and 38.9 fantasy points across a full slate is the production floor of fantasy irrelevance.
Carolina signed him to a one-year deal, and the depth-chart math is unforgiving behind the established top of their receiver room. A WR125 consensus rank and an ADP outside the top 150 receivers price him correctly. Without a target-share leap he has never shown, Metchie is a late-camp watch, not a draftable asset.
