Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's WR27 at 12.1 PPR points per game, against 11.3 over 16 games last season (WR30). The role is producing the same fantasy output two years running.

Last season he ranked 24th of 142 in target volume (19.5% target share), 37th of 142 in downfield role (23.0% air-yards share) and 63rd of 142 in efficiency (1.52 yards per route run). His points come from his target volume. Efficiency is the soft spot. Justin Herbert is his quarterback.

The main risk is the job itself. He's the listed starter with Derius Davis next on the depth chart, and a benching or an injury would take his value to zero overnight.

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

McConkey's 2025 was a step back hiding in plain sight. He still ran a route on 83.2% of dropbacks and commanded a 19.5% target share, but his efficiency cratered: 1.52 yards per route run and a 0.068 EPA per play, down from a monster 2.55 and 0.577 in 2024. His catch rate slid from 73.2% to 62.3%, and five interceptions on his targets point to context that should normalize. The raw line of 66-789-6 finished WR28 after a WR9 rookie campaign.

The path back is clear. Keenan Allen is gone, freeing the underneath and red-zone work that capped McConkey's ceiling, and Mike McDaniel arrives to scheme him open. He already drew 15 red-zone looks in 2025, so target volume isn't the question, finishing is. With Herbert and a thinned-out target tree, his rookie-year form is the realistic baseline. A Round 4 ADP makes that upside a value.
