Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's WR138 at 0.7 PPR points per game, against 9.1 over 7 games last season (WR97). He's running behind last season's pace.

Last season he ranked 82nd of 142 in target volume (8.2% target share), 103rd of 142 in downfield role (7.3% air-yards share) and 74th of 142 in efficiency (1.43 yards per route run). Downfield role is the soft spot. Trevor Lawrence is his quarterback.

He's WR2 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.

The next favorable matchups are the Texans in Week 6 (5th against WRs) and the Colts in Week 8 (9th against WRs).

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick, flashed receiver chops in a seven-game, injury-shortened rookie year while also playing cornerback. On offense he ran 209 routes for 45 targets and 28-298-1, an 8.2 percent target share with a strong 0.215 targets per route and 1.43 yards per route, plus a 44-yard catch among five 20-plus grabs. The catch rate (62.2 percent) and -0.051 EPA per play reflect a raw, split-attention role, and the WR93 finish (35.8 points) understates the per-route efficiency he showed when on the field.

The entire case rests on his 2026 snap allocation: if Jacksonville commits him to a fuller offensive workload alongside Brian Thomas Jr., the target share and route volume should climb sharply. The two-way usage is a genuine risk to his ceiling, but the talent and draft pedigree are elite. He is a high-variance WR3/flex gamble in redraft and a premier dynasty asset to acquire while uncertainty suppresses his price.
