Week 6 Fantasy Football Injury Report: Hurts, Adams, McLaurin & More

Oct 21, 2026 | Injuries

After several brutal injury weeks, Week 6 was relatively quiet.

Relatively.

Jalen Hurts may be done for the season.

Davante Adams is facing an extended absence.

Terry McLaurin suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury.

And several other fantasy starters are dealing with issues that could affect Week 7 and beyond.

The important question is not just:

Who got hurt?

It is:

Who gains fantasy value because of it?

Here are the most important fantasy football injuries coming out of Week 6.

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Injury: Blood clots
Projected Return: Likely season-ending

This is easily the biggest injury story of the week.

Hurts has been placed on injured reserve while dealing with a blood-clot issue expected to require blood-thinning medication.

That makes this situation very different from the muscle strains and ligament injuries we normally discuss.

Players taking anticoagulants generally cannot participate in a contact sport because of the increased risk of serious bleeding after impact.

For fantasy purposes, managers should prepare as if Hurts will not return this season.

The longer-term outlook appears much more encouraging, and based on the information currently available, there is no reason to automatically assume this becomes a 2027 problem.

Fantasy Fallout

Hurts managers need to move quickly at quarterback.

His absence also changes the outlook for the entire Philadelphia offense.

The rushing production and red-zone efficiency Hurts creates are almost impossible for a backup quarterback to replicate.

That does not make every Eagles skill player unusable.

It does make the offense more volatile.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Los Angeles Chargers

Injury: Concussion
Projected Return: Week 8

It has been a frustrating first half of the season for McConkey.

He entered Week 6 after already dealing with a foot injury and then suffered a concussion that ended his afternoon early.

There is at least one piece of good timing here.

The Chargers are on bye in Week 7.

That gives McConkey an extra week to move through concussion protocol without necessarily costing fantasy managers another game.

Assuming he progresses normally, Week 8 becomes the obvious target.

Fantasy Fallout

There is no reason to panic on McConkey.

The bye gives him time to recover, and his role should still be waiting for him once he returns.

The bigger concern is simply the accumulation of injuries through the first half of the season.

Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills

Injury: Ribs
Projected Return: Week 8

Kincaid briefly exited Week 6 with a rib injury but was able to return.

That is encouraging.

Buffalo also has its bye in Week 7, giving him another full week to recover before the Bills play again.

The exact diagnosis remains unclear.

But returning to the game makes a lengthy absence less likely.

Fantasy Fallout

Hold Kincaid.

Unless we get a significant negative update during the bye, fantasy managers should expect him to have a reasonable chance of playing in Week 8.

There is no need to make a reactionary move at tight end yet.

Davante Adams, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Injury: Hamstring
Projected Return: Week 13 or later

This is one of the more concerning injuries of the week.

Adams is dealing with a significant hamstring injury that could require surgery.

The Rams have expressed optimism that he could return after roughly six weeks.

Fantasy managers should be careful treating that as a guaranteed return to his usual role and production.

Adams is an older receiver dealing with a significant soft-tissue injury.

That creates concerns both with the recovery itself and with reinjury once he does return.

Fantasy Fallout

This opens a lot of opportunity in Los Angeles.

Adams leaves behind routes.

He leaves behind targets.

And someone has to absorb them.

In deeper leagues with an IR spot, Adams is still worth holding.

In shallower formats without IR space, carrying him through most of the remaining fantasy regular season becomes much more difficult.

Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders

Injury: Knee
Projected Return: Potentially season-ending

McLaurin suffered one of the scariest injuries of Week 6.

His leg was placed in an air cast before he was carted off, creating immediate concern for a significant knee injury.

Until we get a confirmed diagnosis, there is still uncertainty.

Fantasy managers should nevertheless prepare for the possibility of a lengthy absence.

Fantasy Fallout

Washington suddenly has a lot of targets available.

Stefon Diggs should remain heavily involved.

The more interesting waiver-wire winner may be Antonio Williams, who now has a much clearer path to routes and targets.

Chig Okonkwo could also benefit from additional work in the middle of the field.

McLaurin managers should wait for the official diagnosis before making a final roster decision.

But the early outlook is obviously concerning.

Mike Evans, WR, San Francisco 49ers

Injury: Achilles/Calf
Projected Return: Week 9

Evans entered Week 6 already dealing with an Achilles issue.

He was able to play and got off to a good start, but the injury continued bothering him and eventually forced him out.

San Francisco appears optimistic that this will be a relatively short absence.

That does not mean the concern disappears.

Achilles tendinitis can linger. Calf strains can linger.

And soft-tissue injuries carry meaningful reinjury risk if a player returns before he is fully ready.

Fantasy Fallout

Evans may technically return soon and still be difficult to trust immediately.

That makes Christian Kirk especially interesting.

Kirk is working his way back from injured reserve at the exact moment San Francisco desperately needs healthy receivers.

If he is activated soon, meaningful routes could be available immediately.

He is the type of player worth adding before the role becomes obvious.

Romeo Doubs, WR, New England Patriots

Injury: Shoulder
Projected Return: Week 12

Doubs scored a long touchdown before leaving Week 6 with a shoulder injury.

He has since been placed on injured reserve.

With New England’s Week 11 bye, the earliest realistic return is Week 12.

For fantasy purposes, that removes him from the picture for the next several weeks.

Fantasy Fallout

This is another positive development for DeMario Douglas.

Douglas was already producing before the injury.

Now there is one fewer receiver competing for routes and targets.

He caught seven passes for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 and should continue seeing meaningful opportunities while Doubs is sidelined.

Rashod Bateman, WR, Baltimore Ravens

Injury: Shoulder
Projected Return: Week 9

Bateman left Week 6 with a shoulder injury and did not return.

The exact severity remains unclear.

That matters because shoulder injuries can range from something a receiver plays through the following week to a multi-week absence.

For now, this is one of the situations we need to monitor rather than pretend we already know the answer.

Fantasy Fallout

This could create another opening for Ja’Kobi Lane.

Lane returned from injured reserve in Week 6 and immediately earned targets despite playing in a limited Baltimore passing attack without Lamar Jackson.

If Bateman misses time and Jackson returns, Lane could suddenly find himself in a much more valuable fantasy environment.

He is one of the better speculative waiver adds coming out of Week 6.

Biggest Fantasy Winners

Antonio Williams

Terry McLaurin’s injury creates the clearest path to additional targets.

Williams has already flashed on limited opportunities and could become a regular part of Washington’s passing game if McLaurin misses significant time.

DeMario Douglas

Romeo Doubs going to injured reserve removes another player from an already fluid New England receiving rotation.

Douglas has produced despite the changing personnel around him.

The opportunity should remain.

Ja’Kobi Lane

Bateman’s injury could accelerate Lane’s role just as the rookie returns from injured reserve.

A Lamar Jackson return would make the situation even more interesting.

Christian Kirk

Mike Evans’ injury comes at almost the perfect time for Kirk’s fantasy value.

The 49ers need healthy receivers.

Kirk is getting closer to returning.

If those two timelines intersect, he could matter immediately.

Final Verdict

Week 6 did not give us the sheer number of injuries we dealt with earlier in the season.

The injuries that did happen were significant.

Jalen Hurts could be done for the year.

Davante Adams may miss most of the fantasy regular season.

Terry McLaurin’s knee injury could completely reshape Washington’s receiving corps.

Romeo Doubs’ absence gives DeMario Douglas another opportunity to consolidate targets.

Rashod Bateman’s shoulder could accelerate Ja’Kobi Lane’s emergence.

And Mike Evans’ injury comes just as Christian Kirk is getting closer to returning.

That is the fantasy side of injury news that matters most.

Knowing who got hurt is only the first step.

Track where the snaps go.

Track where the routes go.

Track where the carries and targets go next.
