Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's WR6 at 21.9 PPR points per game, against 15.9 over 14 games last season (WR9). He's running ahead of last season's pace.

Last season he ranked 23rd of 142 in target volume (19.6% target share), 30th of 142 in downfield role (26.6% air-yards share) and 34th of 142 in efficiency (1.94 yards per route run). His points come from his target volume. Matthew Stafford is his quarterback.

The job is secure: he's the listed starter and one of the best at his position. The main risk is health, and Cj Daniels is next on the depth chart if he misses time.

The next favorable matchups are the Bills in Week 5 (7th against WRs) and the Cardinals in Week 6 (4th against WRs).

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

Adams turned 14 scores into a WR27 finish over 14 games last year, but the underlying line screams touchdown dependence. His 52.6% catch rate and 1.95 yards after the catch per reception were career worst, and a 0.481 WOPR on a 19.6% target share marked a sharp drop from the 0.541 and 0.804 marks of his prior two seasons. The EPA per play (0.237) and 51.8% success rate look healthy, but they're propped up by 32 red-zone and 23 end-zone looks that funneled into elite scoring rather than steady yardage.

The 14-TD spike is the obvious regression flag; when he didn't find the end zone, his weekly output cratered. In Sean McVay's offense with Matthew Stafford, he still profiles as a clear starter, but Puka Nacua commands the alpha share, and Adams is now 33 with a lingering lower-body issue. Treat him as a touchdown-reliant WR3 in the fifth round, not a foundational piece.
