Our Take After Week 4

We projected Vele in the WR97 range this summer. Through 3 games he's WR24 at 12.7 PPR points per game, against 5.1 over 13 games last season (WR95). He's running ahead of last season's pace.

Last season he ranked 91st of 142 in target volume (6.9% target share), 89th of 142 in downfield role (9.0% air-yards share) and 86th of 142 in efficiency (1.26 yards per route run). Target volume is the soft spot. Tyler Shough is his quarterback.

The next favorable matchups are the Falcons in Week 4 (3rd against WRs) and the Giants in Week 6 (8th against WRs).

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

The numbers say Vele can play when given a route tree. Across nine games after the midseason move to New Orleans in 2025 he posted a 0.507 EPA per play and a 61.5% success rate, hauling in 25 of 39 looks for 293 yards and 2 scores. His 2024 Denver tape was even sharper: 0.638 EPA per play, a 74.5% catch rate on 55 targets, and 1.66 yards per route run. At 6-foot-5 he wins down the field, with 11-plus air yards per target and a 17.3 air yards per reception mark that screams vertical role.

The catch is opportunity. A 50.2% snap share and 36.8% route rate kept him from ever consolidating volume, and a season-ending shoulder injury on IR clouds his timeline. Projections land near 35-423-3, and his ADP sits in the WR97 range. He is a late flier whose efficiency profile only pays off if the Saints carve out real snaps.

Should I buy low or sell high on Devaughn Vele?

Devaughn Vele is outperforming his projection, WR24 against about WR97, so his trade value is near its high. Selling is reasonable if an offer pays for the WR2 he has been rather than the depth WR he was projected to be.

What is Devaughn Vele's projected role going forward?

What could hurt Devaughn Vele's fantasy value?

Devaughn Vele's risks: his target volume (6.9% target share, 91st of 142 WRs in 2025) limits his scoring. See his injury status and history.

How difficult is Devaughn Vele's remaining fantasy schedule?

About average: of his next seven games, 2 come against a top-10 matchup for WRs and 2 against one of the stingiest defenses, by PPR points allowed to the position.
