TE53 through Week 4 · 2.0 PPG
Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished TE48 last season at 3.4 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 3 games he's TE53 at 2.0 PPR points per game, against 3.4 over 17 games last season (TE48). He's running behind last season's pace.
Last season he ranked 39th of 81 in route participation (40.9%), 46th of 82 in target share (6.0%) and 51st of 82 in efficiency (1.04 yards per route run). Efficiency is the soft spot. Jacoby Brissett is his quarterback.
He's TE2 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.
The next favorable matchup is the Lions in Week 5 (1st against TEs).

Published June 16, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Higgins quietly logged his most productive season in 2025, suiting up for all 17 games and turning 37 targets into 30 grabs for 301 yards while securing 81.1% of his looks and posting a clean zero-drop sheet. The volume stayed thin, though: a 6% target share, 0.128 targets per route, and 1.04 yards per route run dragged his EPA per play to a flat 0.039 and capped him as the TE38 in fantasy scoring. The encouraging wrinkle is his 6.97 yards after the catch per reception and a 16.7% avoided-tackle rate, signaling he can create when fed.
The ceiling problem is the man in front of him. Higgins remains the clear backup behind Trey McBride, and as long as the starter stays upright there simply aren't enough routes to matter. He's a touchdown-light, low-floor name buried near the end of draft boards. Stash him only in the deepest formats as injury insurance.
