Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's WR48 at 8.1 PPR points per game, against 5.0 over 15 games last season (WR85). He's running ahead of last season's pace.

Last season he ranked 80th of 142 in target volume (8.4% target share), 88th of 142 in downfield role (9.1% air-yards share) and 84th of 142 in efficiency (1.30 yards per route run). Downfield role is the soft spot. Bo Nix is his quarterback.

The main risk is the job itself. He's the listed starter with Marvin Mims JR. next on the depth chart, and a benching or an injury would take his value to zero overnight.

The next favorable matchup is the Cardinals in Week 7 (4th against WRs).

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 16, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

Bryant's rookie tape rewards a second look. Across 13 games he ran 291 routes on a 45.8% route share, drawing 49 targets for 31 grabs, 378 yards and a score. The efficiency markers pop: a 0.29 EPA per play, a 57.1% success rate, and eight red-zone looks with four trips inside the 10. He wasn't asked to do much downfield (8.4% target share, 1.3 yards per route run), yet he converted what came his way.

The problem is the opportunity ceiling, not the player. Denver added another mouth to feed, slotting Bryant behind Courtland Sutton and into a crowded battle with Troy Franklin and Marvin Mims for the No. 3 role. At a WR85 draft cost he's a late-round dart, not a roster lock. Bank the per-snap quality and the goal-line involvement as the upside; a midseason injury ahead of him is the realistic path to relevance.

What is Pat Bryant's projected role going forward?

Pat Bryant is the listed starting WR, with Marvin Mims JR. next on the depth chart. Nothing on the chart threatens the job, so the role is his to lose on performance.

Will Pat Bryant get more targets?

Pat Bryant's risks: Marvin Mims JR. is next on the depth chart if he is benched or hurt, his downfield role (9.1% air-yards share, 88th of 142 WRs in 2025) limits his scoring and the 49ers in Week 4 and the Seahawks in Week 6 are tough matchups. See his injury status and history.
