Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished TE18 last season at 8.5 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 3 games he's TE77 at 0.6 PPR points per game, against 8.5 over 15 games last season (TE18). He's running behind last season's pace.
Last season he ranked 10th of 81 in route participation (78.4%), 17th of 82 in target share (14.7%) and 44th of 82 in efficiency (1.18 yards per route run). His points come from his route participation. Efficiency is the soft spot. Jameis Winston is his quarterback.
He's TE2 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.
The next favorable matchups are the Cardinals in Week 4 (6th against TEs) and the Commanders in Week 5 (2nd against TEs).
Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)
Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Johnson took a clear step forward in 2025, ranking TE19 with 82.8 fantasy points across 15 games on an 86.7 percent snap share. The 2024 fourth-rounder (Pick 107, Penn State) more than doubled his target share to 14.7 percent from 7.8 and lifted yards per route run to 1.18 from 0.84, hauling in 45 of 74 targets for 528 yards and five scores. The biggest leap was usage near the goal line: 14 red-zone and six end-zone targets, up from one each in 2024, the engine behind his touchdown production.
The concerns are catch quality, a 60.8 percent catch rate, five drops and a 6.8 drop rate, plus a modest 0.119 EPA per play that caps his ceiling. Still, as a near-every-down option in a thin Giants pass-catching corps, his volume and red-zone role give him a stable streaming floor with TE1 spike weeks. For 2026 he is a low-end starter and strong dynasty hold, draftable as a back-end TE1 with room to grow.

Theo Johnson Fantasy Outlook FAQ
What is Theo Johnson's fantasy outlook for the rest of the 2026 season?
Theo Johnson projects as an every-down depth TE for deep leagues only for the rest of the 2026 season: a bench stash in TE-premium leagues and waiver-wire material in 12-team and 10-team leagues. His route participation (78.4% route participation, 10th of 81 TEs in 2025) supports that. His efficiency (1.18 yards per route run, 44th of 82 TEs in 2025) holds him back. See his live rank in Redraft Command.
What is Theo Johnson's rest-of-season fantasy ranking?
Theo Johnson is the TE77 in PPR points per game through Week 4. That puts him in depth TE territory, waiver-wire material in 12-team leagues.
What is Theo Johnson's projected role going forward?
Theo Johnson is TE2 on the depth chart, so a bigger role needs an injury or a change ahead of him.
Will Theo Johnson get more targets?
Theo Johnson's targets are holding steady: 2.0 a game over his last two games against 1.7 for the season. His share of the offense is what his fantasy value rides on.
What is Theo Johnson's fantasy football upside?
Theo Johnson's upside: his ceiling this season is 1.9 PPR points (Week 1, TE49), his route participation (78.4% route participation, 10th of 81 TEs in 2025) gives him a weekly floor to build on and the Cardinals in Week 4 and the Commanders in Week 5 are top-10 matchups for TEs.
What could hurt Theo Johnson's fantasy value?
Theo Johnson's risks: his efficiency (1.18 yards per route run, 44th of 82 TEs in 2025) limits his scoring. See his injury status and history.
How difficult is Theo Johnson's remaining fantasy schedule?
Favorable: of his next seven games, 4 come against a top-10 matchup for TEs and 2 against one of the stingiest defenses, by PPR points allowed to the position.
