Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished WR73 last season at 5.5 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 2 games he's WR62 at 10.7 PPR points per game, against 5.5 over 16 games last season (WR73). He's running ahead of last season's pace.
Last season he ranked 47th of 142 in target volume (14.0% target share), 34th of 142 in downfield role (25.2% air-yards share) and 57th of 142 in efficiency (1.55 yards per route run). His points come from his downfield role. Efficiency is the soft spot. Geno Smith is his quarterback.
He's out, finger. Until he's back, his value is a bench spot at most, and Malik McClain takes his snaps.

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Mitchell's 2025 line is a study in contrasts: a 14% target share and 25.2% air-yards share on a vertical role (14.89 air yards per look) that produced explosive flashes, including a 75-yard catch and six grabs of 20-plus yards. Yet the efficiency underneath was alarming. He converted just 44.6% of targets into catches, drew five interceptions when thrown to, and posted a brutal minus-0.218 EPA per play with a 35.1% success rate over 16 games. The 453 yards and two scores on 33 catches translated to only 54.9 fantasy points.
The trade to New York gave him a half-season audition while Garrett Wilson was hurt, but Wilson's return plus two first-round rookie pass-catchers crowds the room. Projections of roughly 39-564-3 reflect that ceiling compression. With an ADP near 189 and WR61 consensus, he's a speculative late dart whose volume-dependent past leaves little margin if the deep-ball variance regresses again.
