Our Take After Week 4

The next favorable matchup is the Broncos in Week 8 (6th against RBs).

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

Johnson arrives in Kansas City as a fifth-round rookie out of Nebraska, where he proved he can shoulder a load: 251 carries for 1,451 yards and 12 scores, plus 46 grabs for 370 yards and three more touchdowns over 12 games. That three-down profile, including 18% of his college snaps lined up in the slot or out wide and a top-six missed-tackles-forced mark, is exactly the versatility Andy Reid covets behind a workhorse.

The path is clear but capped: he has to beat out Brashard Smith and Emari Demercado to lock the job behind Kenneth Walker III, and current projections of roughly 40 carries, 165 rushing yards and a touchdown reflect that ceiling while Walker stays healthy. With an ADP around 188 and an RB59 draft tag, he's a late-round stash whose value is almost entirely contingent. Win camp, become the standalone handcuff, and the upside swings hard if Walker misses time.
