Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's RB66 at 3.0 PPR points per game, against 3.9 over 8 games last season (RB80). The role is producing the same fantasy output two years running.

Last season he ranked 60th of 95 in rushing volume (4.6 carries per game), 69th of 95 in receiving role (0.8 targets per game) and 43rd of 95 in efficiency (1.97 yards after contact per carry). Receiving role is the soft spot. Deshaun Watson is his quarterback.

He's RB3 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.

The next favorable matchups are the Jets in Week 5 (9th against RBs) and the Steelers in Week 8 (10th against RBs).

Published June 16, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

McLaughlin keeps producing whenever he touches the ball, he just rarely gets the chance. Across eight 2025 games he turned 37 carries into 187 yards at a robust 5.05 per tote, popping a 13.5% explosive-run rate while playing only 16% of snaps and finishing RB75. That tracks his career: a 5.39 mark and RB47 finish back in 2023, plus 4.39 yards a clip over a full 16-game 2024 slate. The juice is real even if the volume never is.

The problem is opportunity, not talent. A slightly negative EPA per play (-0.014) and a 1% target share reflect a clear fourth-back role behind Dobbins, Harvey, and Coleman in Sean Payton's loaded backfield. Consensus pegs him outside the top 90 backs, and that's fair until an injury opens the door. Stash him only in deep dynasty formats as a contingency-value insurance piece, nothing more.
