Week 3 Fantasy Football Injury Report: QB Casualty Ward

Sep 22, 2026 | Injuries

Fantasy football did not make it through Week 2 quietly.

Jayden Daniels dislocated his elbow. Caleb Williams injured his hamstring. Jaxson Dart hurt his knee. Malik Nabers dislocated his shoulder. Saquon Barkley suffered another stinger.

And that was only the beginning.

At this point, the injury report is not just about who will play.

It is about who gets the opportunity when they do not.

Here are the injuries that matter most heading into Week 3.

Jayden Daniels, QB, Washington

Injury: Left elbow dislocation
Projected Return: Week 8–9 if treated conservatively; potentially much later if surgery is required

This is the biggest injury of the week.

Daniels dislocated the same elbow he injured last season. There was no fracture, but a repeat dislocation creates concern about instability and possible ligament damage.

If Washington avoids surgery, a return around Week 8 or 9 is possible. Surgery could cost him most of the fantasy season.

Fantasy impact: Marcus Mariota becomes a priority Superflex pickup. Terry McLaurin, Stefon Diggs, and the rest of Washington’s passing game lose some ceiling.

Verdict: Hold Daniels. Add Mariota in Superflex.

Caleb Williams, QB, Chicago

Injury: Hamstring
Projected Return: Week 4–6

Williams grabbed his hamstring while escaping pressure and needed help leaving the field.

The early signs appear more encouraging than the initial injury looked, but Week 3 is unlikely.

Tyson Bagent would take over, lowering the ceiling for the entire Chicago passing game.

Verdict: Prepare to be without Williams for at least one week. Rome Odunze remains playable, while Colston Loveland becomes harder to trust.

Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants

Injury: MCL sprain
Projected Return: Week 4–6

Dart appears to have avoided a major ACL injury.

An MCL sprain could still cost him multiple games, which becomes even more important with Malik Nabers also injured.

Fantasy impact: Jameis Winston enters the Superflex conversation.

Verdict: Hold Dart. Winston is a deeper Superflex add.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia

Injury: Stinger
Projected Return: Week 3–4

Barkley briefly left Week 2 before returning with additional neck protection.

That is encouraging, but repeat stingers deserve attention.

If Barkley cannot go, Tank Bigsby becomes immediately relevant after handling 15 touches while Barkley was sidelined.

Verdict: Start Barkley if cleared. Stash Bigsby.

J.K. Dobbins + RJ Harvey, RB, Denver

Both Denver backs are dealing with hamstring injuries.

That puts Jonah Coleman squarely on the fantasy radar.

Coleman handled 13 touches for 58 yards and a touchdown when the backfield opened up. Even if Harvey returns, Coleman may have earned himself a continuing role.

Verdict: Coleman remains one of the best Week 3 waiver claims.

Jadarian Price, RB, Seattle

Injury: Shoulder/chest
Projected Return: Week 3–4

X-rays were negative, so this may only be a short absence.

But if Price sits, Emanuel Wilson becomes very interesting after taking over for 21 carries and 92 yards.

Verdict: Wilson is one of the better temporary-volume stashes of the week.

Jonathon Brooks, RB, Carolina

Injury: Groin
Projected Return: Week 5–7

Brooks appears to have aggravated the same groin issue that bothered him previously.

That gives Chuba Hubbard another stretch without Brooks threatening his workload.

Verdict: Brooks belongs on IR. Hubbard gets a short-term boost.

Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants

Injury: Shoulder dislocation
Projected Return: Week 3–5, potentially longer

This is one of the injuries to watch most closely.

Nabers has a history of issues with the same shoulder, making the MRI especially important.

If the existing damage worsened, surgery becomes a possibility.

Verdict: Hold Nabers. Do not panic trade him before imaging results are known.

Puka Nacua, WR, Los Angeles Rams

Injury: Groin soreness
Projected Return: Week 3–4

The concern here is recurrence.

If this is connected to the groin issue Nacua dealt with previously, it could become something fantasy managers have to monitor throughout the season.

Fantasy impact: Davante Adams would see an even more concentrated target share without him.

Verdict: Hold. Monitor closely.

Nico Collins, WR, Houston

Injury: Hamstring
Projected Return: Week 4–5

Collins missed Week 2 and appears unlikely to play Week 3.

The good news is that this currently looks more like a short-term absence than a major concern.

Verdict: Hold and prepare for another missed game.

Jayden Reed, WR, Green Bay

Injury: Neck
Projected Return: TBD

This was one of the scarier injuries of the weekend.

The encouraging news is that Reed has movement and sensation in all four extremities. But until Green Bay provides more information, there is no useful timetable.

Fantasy impact: Matthew Golden and the rest of Green Bay’s receivers gain opportunity.

Verdict: Hold. Expect him to miss Week 3 unless the news improves quickly.

Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadelphia

Injury: MCL sprain
Projected Return: Week 5–7

Goedert is expected to miss multiple weeks.

There is no reason to wait around hoping he plays Sunday.

Fantasy impact: DeVonta Smith could see even more concentrated targets.

Verdict: Move Goedert to IR and find another tight end.

David Njoku + Charlie Kolar, TE, Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers suddenly have a major tight end problem.

Njoku suffered a fibula fracture and is expected to miss significant time. Kolar is also on injured reserve with a fractured forearm.

That opens a path for Oronde Gadsden II.

Sometimes fantasy opportunity really is that simple.

Verdict: Gadsden is a speculative add before the box score catches up.

Other Injuries to Monitor

Aaron Jones: Mild knee issue. Currently expected to play.

Ashton Jeanty: Ankle. Returned to the game and appears likely to play.

Tyjae Spears: Ankle. Returned without obvious limitations.

D.J. Moore: AC joint sprain. Legitimate chance to play Week 3.

Chris Olave: Hamstring tightness. Expected to play barring a setback.

Mike Evans: Hip. Injury is not currently considered serious.

Baker Mayfield: Shoulder/pectoral treatment, but never left the game.

Biggest Fantasy Winners

Jonah Coleman — Denver suddenly has multiple injured running backs and Coleman produced when given the opportunity.

Emanuel Wilson — Could see another large workload if Jadarian Price misses Week 3.

Marcus Mariota — Starting quarterbacks with rushing ability matter in Superflex.

Tank Bigsby — Barkley’s repeat stinger strengthens his value as insurance.

Chuba Hubbard — Brooks’ setback gives him more runway.

Oronde Gadsden II — The Chargers suddenly have almost nobody left ahead of him at tight end.

Final Verdict

Week 2 did not just create a long injury list.

It changed roles.

Daniels opened the door for Mariota. Denver’s injuries opened the door for Coleman. Price opened the door for Wilson. Barkley’s stinger increased Bigsby’s value. Brooks gave Hubbard more breathing room.

That is why fantasy injury reports should never end with the injured player.

The better question is:

Who gets the snaps, carries, routes, and targets now?

That is where the fantasy value starts.
