Our Take After Week 4

Through 3 games he's TE7 at 13.2 PPR points per game, against 10.5 over 17 games last season (TE10). He's running ahead of last season's pace.

Last season he ranked 7th of 81 in route participation (83.9%), 6th of 82 in target share (19.2%) and 18th of 82 in efficiency (1.52 yards per route run). His points come from his target share. C.J. Stroud is his quarterback.

The job is secure: he's the listed starter and one of the best at his position. The main risk is health, and Foster Moreau is next on the depth chart if he misses time.

The next favorable matchup is the Cowboys in Week 4 (8th against TEs).

Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.

Schultz quietly turned in his best advanced profile yet in 2025, ranking sixth among tight ends with 0.355 EPA per play and a 58.5% success rate while soaking up a 19.2% target share. He ran 512 routes, drew 106 targets, and converted 82 of them into 777 yards on a tidy 77.4% catch rate with just two drops. That target volume and 0.207 targets per route run make him a dependable PPR floor and a genuine safety valve for CJ Stroud.

The ceiling is the problem. Despite 11 red-zone and six end-zone looks, he found the end zone only three times, extending a years-long touchdown drought that caps his scoring. With Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and the rookie pass-catchers competing for work, his efficiency stays modest. As a back-end TE2 going around the 11th round, he is a steady plug-in whose top-10 upside hinges entirely on touchdowns finally arriving.
