Efficient RB1 every week
RB1 through Week 4 · 14.1 PPG · 2.36 yds after contact/carry
Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished RB17 last season at 13.6 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 4 games he's RB1 at 14.1 PPR points per game, against 13.6 over 16 games last season (RB17). The role is producing the same fantasy output two years running.
Last season he ranked 23rd of 95 in rushing volume (13.2 carries per game), 26th of 95 in receiving role (2.8 targets per game) and 19th of 95 in efficiency (2.36 yards after contact per carry). His points come from his efficiency. Aaron Rodgers is his quarterback.
The job is secure: he's the listed starter and one of the best at his position. The main risk is health, and Rico Dowdle is next on the depth chart if he misses time.
The next favorable matchups are the Colts in Week 5 (5th against RBs) and the Saints in Week 7 (7th against RBs).
Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)
Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Warren's 2025 was the breakout the advanced numbers had been hinting at: 211 carries for 958 yards at 4.54 per pop, six rushing scores, and an RB18 finish worth 177.1 fantasy points across 16 games. The contact balance is real — 23 broken tackles, 2.36 yards after contact per attempt, and a 10.9% explosive-run rate — and his 0.04 EPA per play flipped positive after two negative seasons. He also stayed busy through the air, turning 45 targets into 40 grabs, 333 yards and two touchdowns while logging 234 routes.
The catch is opportunity, not talent. Pittsburgh added Rico Dowdle, who profiles as a genuine threat for early-down and goal-line work under a new staff, and Warren's 14 goal-line carries from a year ago aren't guaranteed to hold. The receiving floor is his insurance: with Kenneth Gainwell's vacated targets up for grabs, Warren can absorb passing-down volume that props up his PPR value. Draft him as a back-end RB2 with committee risk priced in around the RB24-29 range.
