Our Take After Week 4
Through 3 games he's TE4 at 16.1 PPR points per game, against 10.6 over 17 games last season (TE8). He's running ahead of last season's pace.
Last season he ranked 8th of 81 in route participation (82.3%), 7th of 82 in target share (18.1%) and 11th of 82 in efficiency (1.70 yards per route run). His points come from his target share. Tyler Shough is his quarterback.
The job is secure: he's the listed starter and one of the best at his position. The main risk is health, and Noah Fant is next on the depth chart if he misses time.

Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Johnson finally hit a true featured role in 2025, ranking third among tight ends with 102 targets, an 18.1% target share, and a 0.384 WOPR. He converted that into 77 grabs for 889 yards on a tidy 75.5% catch rate, and his efficiency backs the workload up: 0.345 EPA per play, a 55.9% success rate, and 1.7 yards per route run across 522 routes. The volume is real and earned.
The problem is the scoring. Just three receiving touchdowns and only eight red-zone looks capped him at 102.9 fantasy points despite all that usage, leaving him a TE2. Now New Orleans has imported pass-catching tight ends to crowd the room, and at 28 turning 29 the three-year climb is likelier to flatten than extend. Projections near 67 catches and 750 yards keep him a steady streamer, drafted late as a back-end starter rather than a difference-maker.
