San Francisco spent a third-round pick (No. 90) on Black, but the immediate path is narrow. He lands behind Christian McCaffrey and joins Jordan James and Isaac Guerendo in a fight for secondary touches, so 2026 projections sit modestly around 98 carries for 388 yards, three scores, and roughly 67 total fantasy points. His college tape backs the role: 186 totes for 1,040 yards and 10 touchdowns at Indiana in 2025, with the profile of a runway runner who wins on speed, burst, and clean vision.

The upside is leverage. McCaffrey turns 30 after a 450-touch 2025, and one absence would vault Black into real volume. Temper the enthusiasm, though. He brings almost no receiving resume (12 career targets), lacks power and contact balance, and Shanahan's history of developing late backs is spotty. Draft him as a cheap handcuff near pick 226, with a longer dynasty case if 2027 opens up.
