Mac Jones Rest-of-Season Outlook
Efficient depth QB for deep leagues only
QB49 through Week 4 · −0.2 PPG · 0.096 EPA/play
Preseason Projection vs. Reality
He finished QB31 last season at 12.4 points per game.
Our Take After Week 4
Through 1 game he's QB49 at −0.2 PPR points per game, against 12.4 over 11 games last season (QB31). He's running behind last season's pace.
Last season he ranked 34th of 41 in passing volume (26.3 attempts per game), 12th of 41 in efficiency (0.096 EPA per play) and 33rd of 41 in rushing (5.5 rush yards per game). His points come from his efficiency. Passing volume is the soft spot. Christian McCaffrey and Mike Evans are his top two targets.
He's QB2 on the depth chart, so his value depends on the players ahead of him.
The next favorable matchup is the Commanders in Week 6 (2nd against QBs).
Read our preseason outlook (June 2026)
Published June 17, 2026. Kept for reference; the take above replaces it.
Jones spent 2025 as San Francisco's contingency and quietly delivered his cleanest tape in years: 11 games, a 69.6 completion rate, 13 touchdowns against 6 picks, and a positive 0.096 EPA per play with a 50.4 success rate. Both numbers flipped from his 2024 Jacksonville stint, where he posted negative EPA and a 42.4 success rate. A 3.7 CPOE and 79.1 on-target rate say the efficiency was real, not noise, even if the 5.9 air yards per completion confirms a short, controlled passing diet.
The catch is opportunity. He sits behind Brock Purdy again, so standalone value is roughly nil at a #311 overall draft cost. But the upside is concrete: filling in for an injured Purdy in 2025, Jones cleared 19.8 fantasy points in five of eight starts. A current shoulder issue limited him in OTAs, though he should be ready for camp. Stash-and-monitor only.
